Review of Dessert Auction, Oct. 2012

FROM THE DESK OF.....Russ Mortenson Boyd (with photos by the superb Chris S.)

IT WAS A SUCCESS ! That's the consensus about last night's “Dessert Auction” fundraiser sponsored by the Leather Foundation and the Leather History Project.

The chocolate raspberry cake sold for $100 that night

Held at the San Diego Eagle, the event featured fancy cakes, pies, cookies and assorted desserts plus Chocolate Martini drinks.

Auctioneer for the evening was Aaron Duke, Mr. Leather San Diego 2012. He was assisted by Eli Correa, Mr. San Diego Eagle 2012.

Together they raised $700 through their skilled auctioneering.

A special treat came near the end of the evening when Eli and Aaron were on the receiving end of a lemon meringue pie pushed into their faces.

I want to thank our auctioneers. In addition, I want to thank Rob Rodriquez, Bartender of the San Diego Eagle, a Prince Royale of the San Diego Imperial Court de San Diego, and Caryl Drkdesyre of the Leather History Project for joining me as hosts of the fun evening.

I want to thank the people who came from all over San Diego County to be with us last night. They represented various organizations. I’m also glad that many titleholders participated too.

The proceeds from the evening go to The Leather Foundation’s Emergency Fund and to the Leather History Project.

Russ, President of TLF
